Being a part of a team is familiar territory for Mika, she was a college athlete at Ferrum College where she played softball. While there she also acquired her B.S. in Chemistry! She went on to fulfill a dream of studying Forensic Science, procuring her Masters Degree in Forensics at VCU, and going on to be a Forensic Scientist in VA and NC for six years. During that time, she also found fulfillment in her love of exercise and became a certified Personal Trainer, which she has been for four years now. You can find her teaching group workout classes, and as of most recent has even started a local run club on Fridays, taking different routes through uptown Roxboro and watching the sunrise! (Friday mornings at 6:15, its FREE! Hit it up!)
It's clear that Mika is a go-getter - she's full of energy and is willing to put in the work to see results. Not only is she a hard worker, she's got the smarts to back it up! Her background is filled with variety showcasing that she's a team player, she's got the brains to figure out solutions, she is caring and excited to help others reach their goals, and she is community oriented and loves where she grew up and now lives once again.
In her free time, Mika loves to travel, soak up the sun in the summer, go on runs (especially on Friday mornings!), and snuggle her two pups Lilly & Teddy. She has been a part of the Burton fam for a long time, as she and Mary-Lynn began their friendship on the softball field at eight years old. She was searching for a more fulfilling career, and knew that she would find joy in helping others reach their goals of home ownership!
